This is Millie Alvarez Leppin I am writing to inform our Verdunites that Victor Croom Verdun class of 1965 passed away on January 7, 2005 at the age of 59 from complications of a deep vein thrombosis, after a lengthy battle with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and lung cancer.  He was born August 31, 1945 in Pulaski, Virginia.  He was a long time resident in Pearland, Texas.  He is survived by his wife Judith, his daughter Erica, grandchildren and a brother Maurice Croom (Verdun class of 1965).  In Verdun he was known as Vic Croom he played Basketball, Baseball, Football.  Was also in Choir, Pep Club & Treasure of Boys Dorm.  He enjoyed a career in business management.  He retired from the Bechtel corporation.  He also played key roles in Neighborhood Watch and Houston Police department.

Vic served in the US Army and he was stationed with the 82nd Eng. battalion in Germany and Old Iron Side Armour Division, in Ft. Hood Texas.

I personally remember Vic as a good friend.  Somebody I could trust and a good listener.  He was always willing to help with anything when needed.  We stayed in touch for 40 years and always remained a good friend.  He will be greatly missed.
